August 2022 SAS Competition Winners

WE’RE in disbelief that it’s September already but happy some better fishing conditions are now here! August was another scorcher which made fishing tough for some but we’ve deliberated our SAS submissions and have now picked our winners…

Scooping up the first place £100 RRP credit prize in our August SAS Competition was Matt Heath with a lovely old Norfolk mirror known as the ‘Long Lin’ at 36lb 10oz.

Matt had been dreaming of this fish for some time and it finally graced his net following a string of three-night-a-week pre-baiting sessions on the water using CompleX-T boilies and Frenzied Tiger Nuts.

Over a few weeks he’d picked off some smaller commons from the 35-acre water before a recent session yielded the Long Lin just before first light. A CompleX-T foodbait pop-up was the successful hookbait. Congrats Matt!

Finishing in second place was Adam Grant with the capture of a sublime common carp at 26lb 8oz.

Adam hadn’t managed to get out fishing much following the birth of his son in May but made up for lost time in August with the capture of this carp and another 26-pounder from his syndicate.

20mm Source boilies tipped with a piece of fake corn over a bed of boilies and tiger nuts led to the captures of both fish…

Continuing his impressive run of form and taking the third-place position was Dalton Wilding who chipped in with a fine 25lb mirror from Ladywood Lakes.

The 22-year-old’s successful approach was a Red Hit N Run Wafter fished on a IQd rig.

Last but not least is our Junior winner Mason Willbourne who wowed us with a RIDICULOUS common carp of 27lb 8oz from his local canal.

The 13-year-old cycled on his bike for miles to find some carp and had no trouble getting this one to take his trimmed-down Yellow Hit N Run pop-up when he eventually did. Excellent angling Mason!

As always, all the month’s catches count towards our yearly prize. Who will follow in Jake Waterman’s footsteps and take this season’s crown? Submit your monthly catches towards our competition and it could be you!
