Here’s our useful guide on how to get the most out of our latest additions to the Swim Stim range – Feeder & Bag Dips!

Swim Stim Feeder & Bag Dips explained
As a bait company it can be extremely difficult to innovate products without creating gimmicks that won’t neccessarily catch you more fish.
However, our product development team have worked tirelessly over the last two years to formulate a range of dips that provide versatility in addition to offering a boost of scent and visual attraction.
Of course, we’re talking about the Swim Stim Feeder & Bag dips.
Their inception first came about after we spotted a gap in the market for anglers targeting bigger match carp on venues such as Boddington and Barston.
Whilst a conventional PVA bag, Method or Hybrid feeder approach with pellets and groundbait did work, anglers who started dipping their feeders and bags in liquids designed for the specimen carp market actually saw their results improve!
Now there just wasn’t anything like this of any significant quality in the match fishing scene, so our product development boffins got their heads together to create something unique.
The Swim Stim range has been tried, tested and relied on in match fishing for years so we knew our liquids had to be a part of this range. Betaine Green, F1 Sweet and Red Krill (with added tuna) were eventually chosen as the three flavours to capitlaise on fishmeal and sweet-dominated fisheries.

Work then began to get the consistency right. Too runny and the liquid would come off the feeder or bag when it impacted the water and too thick, it would just cling to the feeder and not break down quick enough to get a quick bite.
After numerous samples and testing, the finished liquid is what we believe to be the perfect consitency for all commercial waters – not just Boddington or Barston.
Let us explain…
Big Venues, Deep Water
On venues such as Boddington, Barston or Worsborough – a vigorous cast is needed to punch your PVA bag or feeder out to the desired distance.
This meant our Feeder & Bag dips needed to be viscous enough to cling to the feeder or bag to 1: withstand the cast, 2: withstand hitting the water and 3: withstand hitting the lake bed.
For this scenario, we recommend you fully dunk your feeder or bag into the dip as it significatly helps to glue or bind your pellets together.
Whilst you will lose some liquid as the feeder or bag initially hits the water, the bulk of your feed around the frame will be protected by the liquid and all of your pellet will make it to the lake bed intact.
This is particularly important on deeper venues or in the winter months when your feeder or bag takes longer to hit the lake bed and for when you’re waiting longer for bites.
You will also of course benefit from having a cloud of flavour and attraction around your bag or feeder as the water starts to penetrate into the liquid and your pellets – as seen below.
- 10 seconds after the feeder hits the lake bed
- 1 minute after the feeder hits the lake bed
- 90 seconds after the feeder hits the lake bed
Of course, if a carp comes to your feeder after 10 seconds of it hitting the lake bed and before the pellets and liquid have had a chance to break down, the liquid is now thin enough for the carp to suck through the liquid and pellets to get to the hookbait.
This in turn also creates a lingering cloud which helps keep carp in your feed zone whilst you’re playing the last bite!
Now let’s take a look at how to use the dips on shallow commercial fisheries…
Smaller Venues, Shallow Water
On smaller commercial fisheries, long and heavy casts aren’t required so there’s no need to fully dip your feeders or bags. The liquid is still required however to draw and hold more carp in your swim.
So what do you do?
It’s simple – make sure your hookbait is located at the bottom of the feeder after you’ve pressed it into the mould with your pellets and then proceed to dunk just the top end of the feeder into the dip – as seen in the picture below…

This allows you to have the best of both worlds – the liquid gives you a cloud of scent and visual attraction in shallow water but becuase your hookbait isn’t inside the section with the dip, it can fall away quickly to allow for rapid bites!
Nick Speed was keen to try the dips in this exact scenario so we joined him for a days’ fishing at Portland Waters recently to give them a go.
At first, he fully dipped his feeder before each cast and whilst he did receive bites, it took a lot longer for the tip to go round as opposed to just half dipping the feeder.
By the end of the day, Speedy had the carp tailing up on the far bank on every cast to get to the liquid. He even poured some in the margins and the carp came onto it straight away!
You can even see a small plume of liquid coming off the feeder as it enters the water…

The F1 Sweet Dip could be seen coming off the feeder on the cast – helping to create a cloud of attraction in the peg!
This attraction sent the carp potty and he ended up with well over 200lb of carp in just a few hours fishing
So the next time you go feeder or bag fishing – grab yourself a tub of our Feeder & Bag Dips and follow the above formula when fishing in deep and shallow water scenarios and we guarantee you you’ll catch more fish using the dip than not!
