Happy New Year folks! It’s time to take a look at the anglers who placed in our SAS Competition for December. Whilst the start of the month remained cold with overnight temperatures nudging -4 in places, mild weather followed resulting in some spectacular catches. Here’s our pick of the bunch…
Taking our first place spot in our December SAS Competition was Dalton Wilding with the capture of a lovely dark mirror of 26lb 4oz from Salford Quays. For those who fish this venue, you’ll know how difficult it can be so what a result for Dalton. He tempted this specimen fishing a 15mm washed-out Hit N Run pop-up in pink fished on a spinner rig. Congrats Dalton!
Finishing in second place was 17-year-old Aiden Whitehall with the capture of a brilliant 42lb mirror from Linear’s Brasenose 1. He caught this one and 35 others over a baited area at 110 yards out! His Spod mix included mulched Monster Tiger Nut boilies, Frenzied Hempseed and XL corn all doused in Tiger Nut Evolution Oil. An incredible effort from the young lad and a worthy winner of the £60 RRP bait prize in December’s SAS Competition.
Coming in third place was November’s runner up Gavin Nelson who banked a 20lb mirror during the cold spell at the start of December followed by another during the Christmas break. Targeting his Midlands-based syndicate, both fish came to solid bags loaded with crumbed Monster Tiger nut boilies and pellets with a few Spombs of matching pellet and crumb over the top. Simplicity at its best!
Finally, our junior prize was won by 15-year-old Charlie Aldridge who bagged himself this mega 37lb 9oz common during a holiday trip to Bounty Lakes in France. A simple multi rig loaded with a grain of our Frenzied Maize was enough to tempt the bite. Well done Charlie!
As always, all the month’s catches count towards our yearly prize. Who will follow in Jake Waterman’s footsteps and take this season’s crown? Submit your monthly catches towards our competition and it could be you!
