The catch report from Craig Waddington’s last few carp fishing trips which despite being a complete washout, produced a number of stunning specimens!
Craig says:
I’ve just got back from a week’s rather wet angling!
The first 4 days I spent down in Kent on a day ticket and I managed one within two hours of getting the rods out…
The good news is that it was an upper 30 common, but then I proceeded to blank for the next 3 days!
The lake only did a couple of other bites in the time I was there so it was super slow going. That one fell to a 15mm Peppered Squid boilie topped with a 12mm Mulberry Florentine over a kilo of 15mms glugged in the Liquid Worm Carp Food.
Next, I headed over to a little club lake after that and managed two and lost a real biggun.
Strangely, these were all off the surface in the pouring rain between the thunder storms! They both came to trimmed down CompleX-T pop ups.
I also went back to the wild pit for a night and managed an upper 20 mirror.
A 26mm/15mm Peppered Squid snowman fished over 5kg of mixed Peppered Squid and Frenzied Tigers, did the damage on this occasion.
I’m going to be concentrating on the club lake for the winter as I fished it 3 seasons ago and did really well – 3 of the fish I had at upper 30lb are now upper 40s so providing it’s not too busy and it doesn’t keep flooding, it should produce some good fish again…
