1 CommentsZak Williams’ Bomb and PVA Bag Rig for Barston Lakes
A step by step guide on how to make Zak Williams‘ bomb and PVA bag rig for fishing large match carp venues such as Barston Lakes or Boddington. It was this tactic that helped Zak qualify for the Barston Masters final and by following the below steps, you too can capitalise on a highly successful tactic that’s proven to catch big fish!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To get the most of the tactic that helps Zak qualify for the Barston Lakes Masters Final, you’re going to need a few bait items!
At this time of year, Zak likes to use 2mm F1 Sweet Pellets and 2mm and 4mm XL Carp Pellets in his PVA Bags. His hookbait choice are Wowsers in yellow and orange and Washters in pink.
TOP TIP
Preparation is key in Zak’s fishing and before every match, he ties up at least 20 PVA mesh bags the size of golf balls so he can nick them on to his hooklinks without having the need to tie a bag on the bank. Just make sure you store your bags in an air-tight tub so no moisture can get in!
THE RIG
Zak’s rig is simply an inline lead with a quick change link so he can interchange hooklinks effortlessly.
THREADING ON THE BAG
Threading on the PVA bag is easy!
Step 1 – Insert a baiting needle through the middle of the bag, ensuring the point goes all the way through.
Step 2 – Put the loop of your hooklink onto the needle end and pull it through the bag.
Step 3 – Pull the bag all the way down to your hookbait and nick the hook through the bag. Then clip the hooklink onto your quicklink and the rig is finished!
TOP TIP
Before every cast, marinate your PVA bags in a liquid flavouring. Zak prefers the Sweet Tiger Liquid Carp Food when fishing in the winter!
