SAS is back with a bang and what a start to the 2022/23 season it’s been! The opening month always draws a big response and this year has been no different – with dozens of carpers from across the UK and Europe submitting their catches to have a shot of winning some incredible bait prizes and a possible sponsorship deal come April.
Ultimately, this has made our job of picking the top three a difficult affair but the results are now in…
First place has gone to Warwickshire-based angler Mark Watkins who landed Doddington’s ‘Mary’s Leather’ at an astonishing 57lb 2oz. The monumental mirror smashed his personal best by miles and picked up his Monster Tiger Nut snowman rig during his first visit to the venue.
Michael Edwards won our second place prize with a 44lb mirror from Blackthorn Fishery. The impressive specimen turned out to be a new lake record and fully deserved of the second place spot.
Razzo Ball – a regular contributor to the SAS competition, ultimately finished in second place thanks to a flurry of gravel pit thirties topped by a 37lb common. Last but not least, our junior prize was won by 16-year-old Cody Scragg who bagged himself a stunning ghost common from Trentham. Well done mate!
As always, all the month’s catches count towards our yearly prize. Who will follow in Jake Waterman’s footsteps and take this season’s crown? Submit your monthly catches towards our competition and it could be you!
Thank you for your sharing. I am worried that I lack creative ideas. It is your article that makes me full of hope. Thank you. But, I have a question, can you help me?
