Alex Hager’s all-time Top 5 carp on The Source

It’s fair to say Alexander Hager is big fan of The Source! The Austrian carper has caught a very impressive list of fish since first using the The Source over 8 years ago.

We recently asked him to pick his all-time top 5 Source stunners, or as Alex describes them… “Source Whackers”!

In chronological order, here’s what he chose…

Catch date: September 2012

Weight: 59lbs

This was Alex’s first ever carp over 25kg. Caught in a notorious syndicate called the “Virgin Lake” this stunning common was the biggest known fish in the venue at the time

59lb

Catch date: May 2014

Weight: 55lbs

Having fished his local gravel pit “Schottergrube Hollywood” for over 8 years this was Alex’ first carp from the water over the 20kg mark

55lb

Catch date: July 2016

Weight: 62lbs

“I caught this legendary fish known-as “Neptune” for the second time (the first time was one year early with 55lbs). At the time this was biggest known common in this venue, in my hardcore home pit “Skeleton water”

62lb

Catch date: April 2018

Weight: 61lbs

This cracker was also caught from the “Skeleton water” and is the 3rd biggest carp of Alex’s life

61lb

Catch date: October 2018

Weight: 70lbs

This awesome mirror is Alex’s PB and first carp over 30kg. The fish known as “Gandalf” had been missing and presumed dead for over 2 years. It’s also Alex’s number one top fish in this list!

“It was the first fish over 30kg in this venue, and this is a true hardcore water and the most challenging fishing in my life”. Alex Hager

70lb
