Clipstone’s Dave Rose is the new Trent Champion despite a slow first two hours with little to grace his net at Rolleston 24 until bream number one arrived. The patience to keep feeding paid-off and the peg grew from there and was followed by 40 more fish up to 3lb on a groundbait feeder with worm and maggot which brought him an impressive 99lb 13oz.
Runner-up and finding himself on one end of a huge shoal of bream at Fiskerton 14 was John Bottfield who caught steadily throughout the match to finish with 93lb 12oz.
Dennis Armstrong was two pegs away and found the other end of the shoal for 64lb 13oz and third place.
Back at Rolleston peg 1, local rod Dave Sims had 60lb of bream and skimmers for fourth. Plenty of backing weights throughout with half the field weighing 8lb or more.
Section winners from 55 competing on Middle Trent, Rolleston and Fiskerton were:
Fiskerton 1-10 Matt Wakelin 20-13
Fiskerton 11-20 Roger Smith 6-3
Fiskerton 21-30 Gary Thompson 15-3
Fiskerton 31-40 Gary Smith 15-7
Rolleston 1-10 Ian Smith 16-14
Rolleston 11-20 David Powell 12-15 (inc barbel 12-6 pictured)
