Here&#8217;s a breakdown of how it works!<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_94259\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94259\" class=\"wp-image-94259 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dynamitebaits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Action-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt width=\"1024\" height=\"682\"><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-94259\" class=\"wp-image-94259 size-large lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%201024%20682%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" alt width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dynamitebaits.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Action-1-1024x682.jpg\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-94259\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A simple tweak on the classic maggot feeder approach has helped Ian Smith win a lot of match winning of late!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, match anglers are always looking for an edge over the competition and whilst some adaptive techniques can be considered as gimmicks, Ian Smith has discovered a really simple tweak to fishing the maggot feeder that has made a real difference to his catch rate in matches.<\/p>\n<p>It all came about during the Winter League Final at <a href=\"https:\/\/floatfishfarm.co.uk\/?srsltid=AfmBOoq8A8462G5uA9ejEB4IYTOZQZ8I9KnJ_M0bfUKkL61bFFH-MFCT\">Float Fish Farm<\/a> in Peterborough where nearly all anglers were fishing a maggot feeder tight to the far bank &#8211; Ian included.<\/p>\n<p>Action was super slow for everyone with very few bites registered, but Ian soon had a lightbulb moment.<\/p>\n<p>In his bait bag was a load of dips that he&#8217;d been using to flavour Method feeder and PVA bags during his time on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barstonlakes.co.uk\/\">Barston<\/a> Lake so he decided to put them to good use &#8211; dipping the bottom of his maggot feeder in a mixture of <a href=\"https:\/\/dynamitebaits.com\/product\/fish-gutz-liquid-attractant\/\">Fish Gutz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dynamitebaits.com\/product\/source-bait-dip\/\">Source Hookbait Dip<\/a> before going on to dip the soaked feeder in some <a href=\"https:\/\/dynamitebaits.com\/product\/shake-n-catch\/\">Orange Spice Shake &#8216;N&#8217; Catch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The result is essence is a flavoured feeder that doesn&#8217;t alter the maggots in any way at all which according to Ian is key. He only wanted the feeder to add some scent and visual attraction into his swim which in theory, would draw the fish in. The maggots would then draw them to his hookbait.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say, the ploy worked a treat and Ian transformed his match with other anglers around him wondering what he was doing!<\/p>\n<p>Want to give it a go yourself? Just follow the below steps!<\/p>\n<h2>THE RIG<\/h2>\n<p>Ian&#8217;s maggot feeder rig is super simple.<\/p>\n<p>He uses a sliding boom to which he attaches a bottom-weighted maggot feeder.
