Mathis Korn is an extremely accomplished carp angler for his age and has caught both commons and mirrors in excess of 55lb from his home country of Germany and even bigger fish in France. He prefers to fish larger, unknown expanses of water searching for the beasts that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Venues fished: Almost all know big lakes in France (Cassien, Salagou, Orient, e.g.) and a lot of wild unknown waters
Favourite venue: I love fishing in general – exploring new, huge and wild waters.
Most memorable trip: When I went to Lac de Salagou and caughted the one big morror of this holy venue with 34,6kg.
Fish you would most like to catch: Every fish is a new challenge, I’m not on a mission to catch just one special carp
Top carp fishing tip: Keep your eyes open for different ways of fishing, but keep it simple!
Aim in angling: To explore new and fresh waters for the future with wild and unknown (big) carp that I like to catch
Other types of fishing: I really just focus on carp but sometimes I try to catch big perch and pike
Funniest moment in fishing: A trip to France. I was sitting in the middle of nowhere, taking showers under a tree and didn’t see anybody for two days. Then a group of girls came down the hill to the lake, my clothes were of course still in my tent!
Favourite bivvy meal: Always fresh healthy food – Thai food is simple and easy too cook on the bank
